For the third year in a row, Exotic Flowers has been named Best Florist in Boston by the Improper Bostonian Magazine. We welcome the microscope that the title brings. After all, who is to say that Pizzeria Regina's pizza is better than Santarpio's ? Or that, Sweet Cheeks has better barbecue than Red Eyed Pig ? I am sure there are many clients at Winston Flowers and Olympia Flowers that are mystified that the Exotic Flowers was named best florist in Boston for three years in a row.
Thank you to the Improper Bostonian for this recognition and the write up (as seen below).

Patriot's Day in Boston is filled with an abundance of activities for all Bostonians and New Englanders. From revolutionary battle reenactments to the 11am Red Sox game to the Boston Marathon, this day is a major holiday in Massachusetts. In 2013, Patriot's Day happens also to fall on April 15th. While April 15 is synonymous with Tax Day, this year it is also Jackie Robinson Day.
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy tells us that 42 is the answer to everything in the universe. Perhaps. But today I just want to share the 42 things we love most about being a florist in Boston in honor of the great Jackie Robinson.

On Tuesday July 17th, 2012 the Langham Hotel in Boston hosted the Improper Bostonian's Boston's Best Awards. For the event, the floral design staff at Exotic Flowers created dozens of flower arrangements in purple and gold. For the first time, Exotic Flowers was awarded as Boston Best Florist by The Improper Bostonian Magazine. This best florist award has been collected by Boston floral icons Ilex and Winston Flowers in the past. Being recognized as Boston's Best puts Exotic Flowers in great company with places like Pizzeria Regina (best pizza), Legal Seafoods (Best Outdoor Dining), and J.P. Licks (best ice cream).
Being recognized as Boston's best also puts award winners under the microscope. Who is to say that Pizzeria Regina is better than Santarpio's or that Bernard's is better than Seven Star Street Bistro ? Awards like these do create a lot of buzz and recognition and I am certain that many of Stapleton Florist's customers are wondering how Exotic Flowers was considered the best florist in Boston.
At Exotic Flowers in Boston, we often work on our feet. Lunch is usually eaten at a work station and the end result is often fast food. Unfortunately, you might say we are fast food critics. On our Boston flower design benches, you might find a beef lo mein from Seven Star Street Bistro, or a Chipotle Burrito. Pizza has become a staple for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Some are good. Some are great. Here are our five favorites.
In West Roxbury, Tony's Pizza is an institution. Elio has been hand making one of the best Chicken Parmigiana subs and some of the tastiest area pizza for more than twenty years.
Also in West Roxbury is Comella's; Comella's is a family owned chain which is know for its Italian Mess (a delight of mixed pastas, sauce and cheese) but its pizza $5 large cheese pizzas keep me as regular. This is the best $5 you can spend in Boston.
A traditional favorite remains local icon Papa Gino's. For chain pizza, Papa Gino's nails it with its rustic pizza. This thin stretched crust cut into mini squares and odd shapes is as close to authentic as a chain can get.
Batting it out for the top two spots are everyone's favorite pizzerias. Both institutions have even expanded with huge pizzerias during the recession.
Pizzeria Regina and Santarpio's are everyone's favorites. But keep in mind, Pizzeria Reginas is good in any of its location, but the north end location remains the best of the chain. From its large slices oozing with cheese on a fluffy crust, Pizzeria Regina never disappaoints but still our #1 pizzeria remains Santarpio's in East Boston.
Santarpio's Pizza remains the best there is. No one comes close and it never disappoints. I continue to ask why no one can replicate this pizza.
